In Class Lab-- Incorporating Sources Effectively

Gun Control:
ProCon.org-
Regarding the issues of gun control ProCon.org, a credible website states “The United States has 88.8 guns per 100 people, or about 270,000,000 guns, which is the highest total and per capita number in the world. 22% of Americans own one or more guns (35% of men and 12% of women).

U.SNews.com-
On an online news report from U.S News informs us that the issue of gun control has been brought to the highest courts before, in 2008 Supreme Court ruled that it is a constitutional right to own a gun for personal use, therefore the issue of gun control at that time was not changed. The article however went on to explain that the Supreme Court only applied to federal law, not local and state.

Politics of Gun Control-
According to Robert J. Spitzer, in his book Politics of Gun Control he says there are two related questions of government authority that the gun control controversy revolves around, which are: “does the government have the right to oppose regulations; and, assuming the existence of such a right, should the government regulate guns?” (2). He then goes on to answer these questions and states “The fundamental purpose of government—indeed, its first purpose—is to establish and maintain order” (3).
